Regardless of age, race, religion, or social/economic status there is one intangible thing that has united people since the beginning of time. That is hope. And as we enter the season of giving, Chevy wishes to share hope with Americans across the country.

As such, they're partnering with famous photographer Linda Solomon and sponsoring the 2011 Pictures of Hope Program. What exactly is Pictures of Hope? It's an annual event, in which at-risk and homeless kids in America are given a camera to photograph their everyday lives and write corresponding words of hope. For many children, this is something that many take for advantage - a good education.

Explaining the program, Solomon says, "Picture of Hope has changed the lives of children all over the country. Children in Memphis, San Diego, Raleigh have been granted college scholarships by Rhodes College, San Diego State University and Elon College. The children expressed their 'hope to go to college'."¹

Those, of course, are the ultimate examples of sharing hope. The Pictures of Hope Program, however, fosters hope on smaller, yet impactful levels, too. It brings self-worth to those with none and a voice to many who we are frequently deaf to. The logic behind the program is that hope is contagious.

This year's Pictures of Hope Cards will be handed out to Chevy customers at select dealerships throughout the United States. Chevrolet customers have the opportunity to make a charitable contribution to the program, though it is not required. Participating Chevy dealers will match donations by giving an equal amount to a charity in one of the 10 cities where children participated in the 2011 Pictures of Hope Program.
