BERGER GIVES BACK 101
Since 1925, Berger Chevrolet has been rooted in the West Michigan community. From purchasing trailers to supply Grand Rapids with tires during the World War I rubber shortage to supporting local restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic, Berger Chevy has always been there for its community in the highs and the lows. In this Berger 101 lesson, we’re highlighting the Berger Gives Back campaign. This campaign is dedicated to making a positive impact in the greater Grand Rapids community, the place Berger Chevy has called home for 101 years.
The Berger Gives Back campaign is a dealership-wide effort to give back to our community. Through this campaign, Berger employees have the opportunity to make a weekly donation out of their paychecks. All the money we raise via payroll deduction is then distributed to three local nonprofits that Berger has had longstanding partnerships with: Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth, Heart of West Michigan United Way, and Kids’ Food Basket.
In addition to our year-round, weekly employee donations, the Berger Team gets the chance to make a difference in the community during our summer employee luncheons. Employees get to enjoy a free lunch and raise money for a local nonprofit! Healthy Homes Coalition of West Michigan, THE PLAYGROUNDgr, CASA of Kent County, and STEM Greenhouse are just a handful of the organizations that have joined us at our summer luncheons over the years. It’s thanks to our wonderful partnership with Heart of West Michigan United Way that we’re introduced to such a variety of nonprofits throughout Greater Grand Rapids.
Another feature of our summer luncheons is that we are often joined by our friends at FOX 17 Morning Mix! Through our partnership with them, not only are we raising funds for each nonprofit we feature, but we also get to give them a platform to share their mission with the community. This is our sixth year partnering with FOX 17, and it has been such a rewarding partnership to introduce West Michigan to those who are making a difference. There are so many other ways Berger gets involved with the community throughout the year besides our weekly payroll donations and employee luncheons. From being an annual participant in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer to volunteering at Day of Caring, giving back to the place we call home is a top priority for our staff. Berger Chevrolet has been serving West Michigan for 101 years, and it’s because of the support of our community and staff that we have been able to achieve such a milestone. West Michigan is as much a part of our legacy as is Chevrolet. That’s why Berger Chevy is dedicated to giving back to the people who have given us so much.
