COOPER MORTON EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Please join us in congratulating Cooper Morton, our July Employee Spotlight!
After graduating high school in 2019, Cooper began attending Grand Rapids Community College as he began his search for a new job. His friend’s mom works in our Service Department and together they referred him to work at Berger as a Service Porter. About three months in, he moved into our Rental Department. What better job for an 18-year-old than getting to move around “cool cars”?! After a stint at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Cooper was recruited back by Michelle in our Prep Department as a Detail Technician.
Today, Cooper works as a Customer Care Specialist for our Vehicle Sales Team. He is responsible for guiding customers in the right direction when purchasing their new or new-to-them vehicle. He is enjoying his new role because he enjoys talking to people, to Berger customers, and “rolling with the punches”.
That is also one of the reasons Cooper enjoys working at Berger. He enjoys that every day is different and likes working with different people. He appreciates his coworkers and the opportunities that are fostered by working at Berger. He’s a big fan of our annual All GM Show each summer. His favorite part about the All GM Show is listening to a car owner’s “passion project story”. It isn’t unusual that someone will take over restoring a vehicle that their parent’s owned and it’s enjoyable to hear their story.
When asked if he had any advice for someone interested in working at Berger, he said that it is “a great place to grow” and “a long-term solution”. There are jobs that can be great temporarily as there are a lot of departments to choose from. So if you don’t feel the best fit in one department, you can always try something else. However, there are a lot of jobs you can make a career out of. He even went so far as to say to try working at Berger, “or you’ll regret it”.😊
Cooper wanted to give Justin and Michelle whom he worked with in our Prep Department a shout-out! He appreciates Justin for being a good friend, his attention to detail, and his patience. He also admires Michelle for her hard work, persistence, and always doing/expecting the best that she can do. He also wanted to give a shout-out to Damian saying his “confidence is infectious”. Plus, they both love to play and talk hockey.
In fact, when Cooper isn’t at Berger, you can find him skating across the ice with his hockey team. A fun fact about Cooper is that he has been playing hockey since he was four years old! In his free time, he also enjoys working on cars and building computers.
Congratulations, Cooper! And thank you for helping to keep it always better at Berger!
