JAVIER RODRIGUEZ EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Please join us in congratulating our October Employee Spotlight, Javier Rodriguez! 

While Javier has only been at Berger Chevrolet for a year, he’s no stranger to the automotive world. He’s been working in the industry for eight years and worked at a few different dealerships before finding Berger Chevrolet. Being in the auto industry for several years, Javier had heard about Berger’s precedent work ethic and work environment through the grapevine. Impressed by Berger’s outstanding reputation of 100 years in the car business, Javier realized it was time to join the Berger team as a Used Sales Consultant. 

When Javier shows up to work each day, he’s ready to see just how many people he can help. He described the opportunity to put a car in a driveway as a handshake. “There are so many hands to shake throughout the day and I’m trying to see how many of them I can shake,” he said. With the positive outcome of the job being helping someone find the perfect vehicle, it helps the job not feel like work to Javier. In fact, it’s his favorite part about being a sales consultant. He feels his job is so simple in comparison to the reward of helping a person or family find the reliable transportation they need. 

One way Javier helps as many people as he can is by utilizing social media! By posting images of Berger’s inventory and photos of happy customers, he hopes to gain a larger audience and bring people into the dealership. While he’s no stranger to using this free marketing tool, Javier has said that it’s much more successful when you have a good dealership with a strong social media presence that you can tag to back your posts. (Shout out to Berger Marketing! 😉) 

Another way Javier has worked to earn customers has been his eagerness to represent Berger Chevrolet at local Latino events. This summer he attended Trokiando in Grand Rapids Huapango Festival and Fiesta Mexicana! With his first few community events under his belt, Javier is ready to get out into the community more. He’s found that he enjoys networking with other professionals and representing Berger out in the West Michigan area. He’s even been able to help a few of his new connections find used vehicles at Berger!

Javier’s advice for anyone interested in joining the Berger team would be, “be ready to rock it.” He described Berger Chevy as a work environment that sets the stage, but then it’s up to you to give it all you’ve got. One of the people that helps set the stage for Javier in the used car department is DJ Selby. Working in the auto industry for eight years, Javier has experienced his fair share of managers. He appreciates DJ’s approach to pushing his employees to do their best and always keeping him on his toes. He’d also like to give a shout out to Adam Vawter, Najib Ahmadi, and Jeremy Rhoton. 

When he’s not at work, Javier enjoys spending time with family and something that you may not know about him is that he’s a musician! He can play the bass, keys, and even produces music for other artists.
