Another year and another employee spotlight! Join us in congratulating our first feature of 2026, Joseph Amani.

Joseph joined the Berger Team in 2023 as a Service Porter. With a goal of becoming a New Vehicle Sales Consultant at Berger, Joseph applied for an open position in the Service Department to get his foot in the door. He had first heard about Berger through his uncle, who previously worked at Berger. After graduation, Joseph set his sights on becoming a salesperson. He achieved that goal in 2025, when he was transferred from the Service to the Sales Department to train as a Sales Consultant. Two years working with the Service Team helped set him up for success in his new role. 

A typical day for Joseph consists of following up with customers and finding ways to connect with new clientele. He makes sure his phone stays fully charged so that customers can always reach him, and vice versa. At the same time, he keeps his head on a swivel, ready to greet any new customers who may walk into the showroom.

Speaking of ways to connect with new customers, Joseph is very active on social media. He uses it as a tool to share Berger’s vehicle inventory and to allow both his current and potential new customers to get to know him. Being a part of the younger generation, Joseph knows how younger car buyers utilize social media as a tool for making purchases. It helps them connect with who they’re buying from, and it can ultimately be the deciding factor in whether a younger customer chooses to do business with a company. With Berger Chevy having its own social media presence, Joseph thinks it’s a “no-brainer” to take advantage of Berger’s good name and apply it to his own personal brand as a New Vehicle Sales Consultant. 

In between customers and desk work, Joseph is always ready to make a video for social media. Whether it’s teaming up with the Marketing Team or his fellow salespeople, he’s always willing to hop on a trend. In fact, one of his recent collabs with his team members just hit over 100,000 views! Besides making reels, Joseph’s favorite part of his job is the people. Arguably, it’s also one of the reasons that he enjoys making videos so much. As a self-proclaimed introvert, Joseph wouldn’t typically put himself in a situation where he would interact with new people daily, but as a Sales Consultant, he has the unique opportunity to get to know someone new every day. Every customer that walks into Berger has a different story, and he’s grateful that he has the chance to make a difference in people’s lives. Whether that’s just by saying a friendly “good morning” or helping someone find reliable transportation.

Something that he would like customers to know when deciding to choose Berger is that our dealership has been in business for over 100 years for a reason. Since 1925, Berger has been serving West Michigan’s automotive needs, and 100 years later, our team continues to go above and beyond. Joseph has continually witnessed his team do everything they can to satisfy every customer who steps into our dealership. In 2025, we celebrated our centennial year, but Joseph wants our community to know that it’s our team who is going to make sure we continue for 100 more years and beyond. 

If you’re interested in joining the Berger Team, Joseph’s advice is to be ready to be a team player. From working together with fellow salespeople to leaning on management for support, working at a dealership is a team sport. If you go in with that mentality, you’re sure to succeed here at Berger.

When asked what his favorite Berger event to attend was, Joseph wanted to highlight the “day-to-day shenanigans” because, in addition to being a hard-working team, Berger is also a team that likes to have fun. Whether it’s photoshopping images of colleagues skipping through a field of flowers or competing for the Fantasy Football championship belt, there’s never a dull moment at Berger Chevy.

Two people in his department that he’d like to give a shoutout to are Beth Dykhouse and Martin Rudolph. Beth has been a sales consultant at Berger for 17 years, so when Joseph was learning the ropes, Beth was someone he relied on for advice. He credits her with equipping him with many of the sales skills he uses daily and is grateful for her continued guidance. 

Martin is Berger’s Floor Manager, and Joseph’s go-to guy. Joseph has learned many new sales processes and techniques from Martin, and they make a good team. Joe knows he can count on Martin to help answer any questions customers might have during their vehicle purchase process. 

Someone outside of his department that he’d like to highlight is Rob Johnson, one of Berger’s Service Porters. When Joseph first joined the Berger Team as a Service Porter, it was Rob who helped him get acquainted. Over the years, they’ve created a great relationship, and despite being in different departments now, they have both maintained that rapport. Joseph even referred to Rob as a grandfather-like figure, and he’s grateful for their shared sense of humor. 

Joseph would also like to shout out the Service Department as a whole. Not only for being the place that allowed him to get his foot in the door, but also for the hard work and friendly atmosphere they provide every day. 

A fun fact that not many people may know about Joseph is that he is bilingual! He can speak English and Swahili. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, or you can find him at the gym.
