KELSEY JOURDAN EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Please join us in congratulating February 2023’s Employee Spotlight, Kelsey Jourdan! After graduating from Ferris State University in 2021, Kelsey moved into a role as Human Resources Assistant at an international food manufacturing company. After some time she made the decision to move down-state with her fiance so he could pursue his career path. With her prior experience in Human Resources, she was looking for a company where she could grow in an environment that cared about its employees. This search led her to Berger Chevrolet. 

After interviewing with Brittani Searl, she quickly learned that human resources was a fast-growing area of the dealerships and that Berger Chevrolet keeps their employee’s interests and needs in mind when making employee-related decisions. Upon taking the HR Assistant role, she looked forward to helping grow the Human Resources Department at Berger as well as making sure every employee’s needs are met. 

Kelsey was recently promoted from HR Assistant to HR Generalist! She plans to continue to help grow the HR Department within Berger as well as helping assist all departments with their needs, facilitate and implement processes, participate in employee and community engagement, onboard new hires, and help with benefits enrollment. Kelsey is excited about this challenge and to continue to grow her knowledge and expertise with the dealership. 

As an HR Generalist, employees can come to Kelsey for Paycom password resets, and employee information changes such as a new address, phone number, or email. They can also come to her for name tags, business cards, new hire benefit-related questions, and application inquiries. 

When asked what she thought was unique about working for Berger, Kelsey said that it’s very welcoming. Berger is an employee-centered, customer-focused company with a family-like culture. She even went so far as to call it her “second home”. In fact, her advice to anyone interested in working at Berger is that it has a unique culture with a family-centered environment, and there are a variety of different departments from sales and service, to parts and collision. Because the departments are very different, there is something for everyone!

When asked if there was anyone in her department she wanted to give a shout-out to, Kelsey couldn’t say enough good things about her boss, Brittani. She appreciates Brittani for helping her transition into her new role in the automotive industry, and for seeing her potential and willingness to grow, as well as helping her foster her skills and grow into her new role as HR Generalist. 

When she’s not at Berger, Kelsey likes to spend time outside. She enjoys fishing, going up to her family’s cabin, being on the lake, and participating in water sports such as tubing and knee boarding! At home, she also enjoys making homemade soaps and candles.
