LUKE SCHWADE EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Congrats are in order for our March Employee Spotlight, Luke Schwade!

Before landing his job at Berger, Luke sold Chevys at a dealership in his home state of Iowa. He and his wife made the move to Pure Michigan after they determined that Michigan would be the best place for them to build their life together and eventually raise a family. Michigan is where his wife’s family is from, and lucky for us, Luke and his wife planted their new Michigan roots on the West Side (best side). 

After they decided to make the move, Luke began his job search. He knew that he wanted to stay in the automotive industry working with the same OEM so he decided to put in an application to work at Berger Chevrolet. The day after he put in his application, one of our Used Car Sales Managers, DJ Selby, gave him a call. Luke went on to say, “I knew during the first interview that this is the place I wanted to be.”

Today, Luke works as a New Vehicle Sales Consultant here at Berger. Some of the reasons he enjoys working at Berger are the opportunities that Berger provides, the people, and the atmosphere. “This dealership is truly one of a kind. The best of all worlds, which is truly hard to find in this industry”.

Luke is a big proponent of our content on social media! When asked if he had a favorite video that he was a part of he said, “No one in particular stands out as they are all fun to be a part of. I look forward to the content dropping and all my friends, family, and coworkers laughing and talking about it.” You can find some of Luke’s videos on our Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. (P.S. When asked about his favorite Berger events, Luke said, “Most people who know me would bet on me saying the golf outing, which is definitely top of the list, but is not my favorite. My favorite event would be anything related to community service. I love to give back and spend time doing good in the community, like the time we unloaded and sorted all those school supplies for United Way!”. The school supplies that Luke and other employees unloaded and sorted were donated by Berger employees and people throughout the community during United Way’s Stuff the Bus campaign. The supplies went on to kids in West Michigan who might not otherwise be equipped with them for the school year. You can learn more about our Stuff the Bus school supply drive here.

Luke’s advice to anyone interested in working in the Berger Sales Department is to talk to everyone and let them know you’re selling cars. After all, you never know who might be looking to buy!

In his interview, Luke gave a shout-out to Doug Schrader, one of our New Vehicle Sales Managers for always being willing to go the extra mile to make things easier for both Luke and the customers of Berger Chevrolet.

When asked if there was anyone in a different department he wanted to give a shout-out to, Luke said, “Jeremy and John back in prep are at the top of my list. The dedication they have to making the whole department run efficiently and fast helps all of the sales staff be able to deliver the units they do. They do all the things behind the scenes and don’t get much credit, but they have definitely contributed to my success here. Anytime I need something done fast they are always willing to help out and move things around to accommodate the customer’s timeframe. I truly do appreciate that.”

While Luke has a lot of great things to say about his colleagues, they have a lot of equally great things to say about him. Luke recently received a shout-out from one of our employees, “Luke consistently conveys a team culture to all of his co-workers. He is so kind and polite to others he truly sets the bar as to what the ideal Berger employee looks like. I am proud to have him as a co-worker. He consistently exceeds expectations.”

As a true Chevy man, Luke drives a Silverado ZR2 in Sand Dune exterior color. He lucked out and somehow it wasn’t reserved for anyone so he snagged it and now he says, “it’s my favorite truck I’ve owned so far.”

When he’s not at work, Luke’s favorite hobby is golf and he doesn’t think that will ever change! 

As closing thoughts, Luke added, “I just want to say how thankful I am to be a part of this place. Every department plays a pivotal role in the success of Berger Chevrolet and I’m just proud to be a part of the team. We are the best for a reason and being a part of it, I truly understand why. Also want to give a shout-out to the marketing department for the fun aspect you all bring to the business. I love being a part of the content. If they ask you to be in a video, I would say do it!”  (He’s right, you should!😉)
