MICHAEL KERRIGAN EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Congratulations to our March 2026 Employee Spotlight and World Class Service Technician, Michael Kerrigan!
Michael first heard of Berger Chevy through connections he had in the automotive industry. Encouraged by these connections to join the team, he came to work at Berger as a Technician in our Service Department in 2019.
A typical day for Michael as a Service Technician consists of exactly what you would think: servicing vehicles! Of all the Chevy models, his favorite vehicle to work on is the Corvette. Michael also enjoys a good challenge, so when difficult vehicle repairs are brought in or cars get dropped off here from other shops, he always finds it satisfying to find the solution.
When he’s not working on a repair, he’s assisting or training his fellow technicians. Berger’s Service Department is a collaborative work environment. From pushing a vehicle across the bays to offering a new perspective, our technicians are always willing to lend each other a helping hand. As one of our GM World Class Technicians, Michael enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience and working together with his team.
Michael earned his GM World Class Technician certification in 2024. What is a GM World Class Technician, you may ask? Great question! To be awarded this status, technicians must keep up with the strict GM training standards as well as complete eight additional assessments to achieve World Class status. Only 2.5% of technicians nationally have achieved this, and it is the highest certification level a GM technician can achieve. With the encouragement of management and the support of the dealership, 50% of Berger’s technicians are GM World Class Certified, and we could not be more proud of our team’s hard work and dedication to mastering their craft!
The team mentality is what Michael enjoys most about working here at Berger. He described the dealership as a family more than a workplace. With over 310 employees and seven departments, you would think that maintaining a small, family-like atmosphere would be difficult, but the Berger Team makes it look easy.
Michael’s advice to anyone looking to join the Berger Team would be to embrace the tight-knit, collaborative company culture and find your place within it. With a friendly face everywhere you look, Michael says it’s easy to start up a conversation with any of his colleagues. If you are ready to have some fun and to be a team player, then Berger is the place for you!
Speaking of his colleagues, Michael would like to shout out his Service Management Team for being a large part of why he enjoys working at Berger. Their readiness to support and accommodate their employees goes a long way. The team mentality starts at the top, and it’s easy to be a team player when the team is so great.
When asked if there was someone outside of his department that he’d like to give a shout-out to, Michael once again emphasized how easy it is to talk with anyone throughout the dealership. He mentioned his appreciation for the Service Porters, always starting his mornings off with a good conversation. He’d also like to give a shout-out to one of our Used Vehicle Sales Consultants, Larry Francis, for being one of the reasons he came to Berger.
Michael’s favorite Berger events to attend are the employee golf outing, the employee Berlin Raceway event, and Track Day! Luckily, Michael was able to attend our final Track Day last year. He took full advantage of the open track, racing his 2009 Corvette ZR1 down the dragstrip over and over.
If you hadn’t already guessed, Michael is quite the car enthusiast! Coming from a long line of gearheads, he currently owns five vehicles and is hoping to add more to the collection. His favorite of the vehicles he owns is the 2009 Corvette ZR1, but he also has two classic cars in his collection: a 1957 Chevy 3100 Pickup and a 1963 Chevy 3100 Pickup. Michael fixed up the 1957 pickup himself after it was passed down from his grandfather, and it can often be seen with its signature flames in the Berger employee parking lot during the summer months.
A fun fact about the 2009 Corvette ZR1 is that he actually won it off of an Instagram raffle giveaway last year! He won it just in time to show it off at the Final All GM Show.
When not at work, you can find Michael enjoying the great outdoors. He spends a lot of time up at his camper near Canadian Lakes riding UTVs during the warmer months or snowmobiles during the winter.
Once again, join us in congratulating Michael on being our Employee Spotlight for March 2026!
