NAJIB AHMADI EMPLOYEE SPOTLIHGHT

Our March Employee Spotlight, Najib Ahmadi, has a pretty incredible life story. A story like none other that led him to Berger Chevrolet. 

In the 1980s Najib’s family moved to Pakistan after Russia invaded their homeland of Afghanistan. For the next 10 years, his family remained in Pakistan where they lived in a refugee camp. The camp was packed full of families seeking refuge from the invasion, so much so that there were 10-15 people per tent in 100°+ heat. It wasn’t until Najib was around 14 or 15 that his uncle and Matt Berger would sponsor his family of 20 to come to the United States. 

In 1996 Najib would follow in his uncle’s footsteps by working at Berger Chevrolet. At about 16 or 17 years old, he started washing cars alongside our now General Sales Manager, Jeremy Rhoton. After some time, Najib decided to leave Berger but took a lot of what he learned along with him. For 15 years, Najib owned a detailing business for cars, boats, and RVs. It wasn’t until he came back to the Berger family in 2019 that he began his career as a Sales Consultant. 

Najib enjoys working at Berger because the dealership and the family have always been close to his heart. He appreciates that it is family-owned and operated, and after growing up and watching his uncle be successful selling cars, Najib knew he wanted to do the same. 

When asked about any advice he has for anyone interested in working in Berger’s Sales Department he said, “be consistent and don’t give up”. He went on to say that when he migrated to the United States, he knew no English. Fast forward to today, he is cracking jokes with his coworkers and communicating with the public every day.

Najib wanted to give a shout-out to one of our Sales Managers, DJ, for always being inspiring, good at his job, and good with our customers. He also wanted to give a shout-out to our very own Matt Berger. Ever since Najib was little he looked up to Matt and at one point he even wanted to own his own dealership because of how much working here inspired him. Najib even went so far as to say that he is looking forward to working at Berger until the day he retires! 

A fun fact you may not know about Najib is that he just returned from a month-long trip to Pakistan where he visited the refugee camp where he and his family once lived. He spent the month helping build houses for those that seek refuge in the camp as his way of giving back to the people that helped keep his family safe all those years ago. 

Whether he’s on or off the clock, Najib considers himself a “car guy”. He currently drives a “Berger Blue” 2022 Silverado Trail Boss. His wife and three kids certainly keep him busy between trips to the park, riding bikes, and getting the family together for traditional Afgan feasts! He comes from a large family so when they get together, it’s hard to miss them. There are cars everywhere. If you’ve met Najib, you know he likes to accessorize! He says his guilty pleasure is shopping for shoes and watches.
