RACHEL MILLER EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Let’s hear it for our November 2025 Employee Spotlight, Rachel Miller!

Rachel was referred to work at Berger in 2016 by her brother, who worked in the Quick Lube Lanes. She herself joined the Quick Lube team as a Writer and worked in that position for two years before leaving to further her education. Upon Rachel’s recommendation, her boyfriend also applied for a job at Berger Chevrolet. It was hearing him talk about his day and hearing about all the people she used to work with that made Rachel realize just how much she missed Berger over the years. So in 2024, she rejoined the team as a Parts Warehouse Associate. Fast forward to today, where she holds the newly created position of Parts Inventory Control Specialist!

A typical day for our Parts Inventory Control Specialist involves relabeling parts, relocating them, and verifying inventory quantities and accuracy. Rachel likes to consider her role as a “desk job.” While tracking inventory involves a lot of desk work, it also keeps her on her feet. She has a portable desk that she can roll around the warehouse, giving her the best of both worlds. Since her position is new within the Parts Department, Rachel and her team are still learning and evolving the role. While her previous experience in the Berger Service Department has given her a solid foundation of industry knowledge, working in the Parts Department has been a whole new world for Rachel. She’s quickly learned a lot about the behind-the-scenes workings of the dealership and just how big an operation our Parts Department is.

Rachel’s favorite part of her job is getting to interact with other departments within the dealership. Her position is unique in that it requires her to communicate with more than just her team. With over 320 employees at the dealership, not every employee gets to interact with more than just their department, and one of the things she enjoys most about working at Berger is the environment created by our employees. Rachel appreciates everyone’s willingness to help each other and work as a team. 

We’re celebrating Berger’s 100th anniversary this year. When asked what this milestone means to her or the community, Rachel responded that it’s a concept that can be hard to grasp. The fact that Berger Chevy has been a staple of the Grand Rapids community for 100 years is quite the achievement, and she’s proud to be a part of the Berger team. She mentioned that when she wears her Berger attire outside of work, it’s often a conversation starter. People will stop her to tell her that they know someone who works or used to work at Berger, or to share the good experiences they have had with our dealership. These interactions make Rachel proud to be a part of a business that is so involved in its community.

Her advice for anyone wanting to join the Berger team is to “just apply!” There are so many opportunities at Berger Chevy, and there’s always room to grow. Rachel has experienced this growth firsthand with her own promotion, and she’s also witnessed the growth of some of her Quick Lube colleagues into managerial positions. Even if you don’t know exactly what you want to do, Berger is a great place to help you figure that out.

When asked if there was anyone in her department that she’d like to give a shout-out to, Rachel said that it’s too hard to single out just one person. Instead, she’d like to thank her pickers, stockers, and stagers for making magic happen every day. Their day-to-day tasks may just feel like routine, but the large number of parts that they move out the door each day is a massive accomplishment, and that level of excellence could not be reached without every single one of them. 

A fun fact that not many people may know about her is that Rachel refinishes furniture! Her favorite kind of furniture to work on is mid-century. She first got into working on furniture as a pandemic hobby, but now she works on as many pieces as she can, and she’s even sold around 15 of her projects! She’s also been known to keep one or two of her finished pieces.
