RILEY MCNUTT EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

February 2nd, 2026 by

Help us congratulate our February 2026 Employee Spotlight, Riley McNutt!

Riley is a Parts Return Associate in our ever-growing Parts Department. He joined the Berger Team in 2024 as a Parts Warehouse Associate, where he picked and sorted parts inventory. He stayed in that position for a little less than a year until a new opportunity arose. When his management team approached him about an opening on the returns side of the department, Riley jumped at the chance to grow in his knowledge of the automotive industry and parts operations.

As a Parts Return Associate, a typical day includes processing customer returns dropped off by our Parts Delivery Drivers. Parts can be returned for several different reasons. It could be that a part is no longer needed, under warranty, or is a core return. A core return is a part that’s returned to the manufacturer to be repurposed. While processing these returns, Riley is also responsible for evaluating the condition of the returned items and documenting whether they are in good condition, are damaged, or are missing pieces. In 2025, Riley checked in 43,681 lines of returns. With a total of 53,040 lines checked in throughout the year, Riley was responsible for handling over 80% of our total parts returns!

These winter months are often considered a peak season for our Parts Department. With intense weather and tough road conditions, delivery routes can take longer than usual and more collisions occur, leading to more vehicles in the shop and a higher demand for parts. Our parts operation is a fast-paced, well-oiled machine, but with the unpredictability of the weather, the winter months keep our team on their toes. Riley has learned to navigate pile-ups and rush hours by maintaining a level head. It’s easy to get overwhelmed when the delivery trucks return and the pace picks up, but Riley always reminds himself that at the end of every day, the Berger Team always gets it done. He takes it step-by-step and trusts the work ethic of himself and his team. His management team has commended Riley’s dedication to making sure returns are handled in a timely, efficient manner and for always maintaining a positive attitude.

Riley’s favorite part of his job is how hands-on it is. As a car enthusiast, he loves the behind-the-scenes of it all. Getting to see and handle all of the parts that go into making a car and figuring out where each component fits into the vehicle is a fun way to further his automotive knowledge. Riley’s favorite part about working at Berger is the compassion and appreciation that the dealership shows for its employees. With employee luncheons and giveaways, he appreciates the way Berger cares for its staff.

When asked if there’s anything he would like customers to know about choosing to do business with the Berger Parts Department, Riley responded with a similar sentiment: that we care for our customers. The Berger Team is here for all of your automotive needs, and if our Parts Department doesn’t have what you need, we’ll do everything in our power to get it for you. Though with over 133,000 parts in our inventory, we make it a priority to have popular parts on hand.

For those interested in joining the Berger team, Riley advises that you should be ready to put in the work and take opportunities to grow when you can. Our management teams do a great job of paving pathways for their employees to grow professionally.

Someone within his department that Riley would like to highlight is his fellow Parts Return Associate, Chase Scarberry. He appreciates Chase’s hard work and his willingness to help out in any way he can. During the winter months, Chase helps the dealership lot stay free of snow by assisting in plowing the parking lot. This winter, Chase has had to plow A LOT of snow, and Riley applauds him for going the extra mile.

Outside of his department, Riley enjoys working with Grayden Knoop, a Berger Lot Attendant. Riley and Grayden knew each other prior to working at Berger, but their friendship gives Riley a reason to get to know more of the Berger Team. Working in the warehouse can sometimes feel far away from the rest of the dealership, but having that connection has helped Riley to branch outside of his department. Plus, it’s always a bonus to get to work with your friends!

A fun fact that not many people may know about Riley is that he is a Seattle Seahawks fan, and he can’t wait to root for his team in this year’s Super Bowl! His mom is from Seattle, and with family still in the area, he’s proud to be a Seattle fan. Go Hawks!

Outside of work, you can find Riley watching football, detailing cars, learning the guitar, or spending quality time with his girlfriend, Lucy, and cat, Winston.

Congratulations to Riley for being our February 2026 Employee Spotlight, and thank you for your hard work and dedication to the Berger Team!
