THE BERGER TEAM 101

For this Berger 101 Lesson, we want to highlight what makes our dealership unique: our team! Every team member plays a vital part in the success of our dealership, and with over 300 employees, it’s no small feat. Across our single campus, we have seven departments and an overall average tenure of just over seven years. In this Berger 101 Lesson, we’ll go over each of our departments, highlighting our employees and their dedication to the Berger Team.

Let’s start with our Vehicle Sales Teams! Our Vehicle Sales Team is made up of three departments: New Vehicle Sales, Pre-Owned Vehicle Sales, and Fleet Vehicle Sales. Our New Vehicle Sales Department consists of 34 employees with an average tenure of ten years. This includes our New Vehicle Sales Consultants, Finance Team, Management Team, and our Sales Business Development Center. Our Sales BDC Team is five members strong, and if you’ve ever been contacted by Berger or reached out to our Sales Team, they’re the ones you get to speak with first! From your first phone call with our BDC Team to our Finance Managers walking you through your paperwork, our team works together to help you into the Chevy vehicle of your dreams.

Our Used Vehicle Sales Department has a similar setup to our New Sales Team, with 22 employees, including Sales Consultants, Finance Managers, and Management. The average tenure for our Pre-Owned Sales Department is seven and a half years. With the largest used car inventory in Grand Rapids, our team helps customers find the perfect gently used ride to fit their budget and lifestyle. 

Our Fleet Vehicle Sales Team has 14 employees and an average tenure of around ten years. This includes our Fleet Drivers who deliver fleet and commercial vehicles to our customers, our Management Team, and Fleet Sales Consultants who help our business customers build their dream fleet. Berger’s Rental Coordinator is another key position within our Sales Department that works between departments to help our Service Department customers get into a rental while servicing their own vehicle at Berger.

When you choose to service your vehicle at Berger, you get the pleasure of working with one (or several) of our 87 Service Department employees! This department includes everyone in our Certified Service building, like Service and Quick Lube Advisors, Technicians, Porters, Warranty, Service BDC, Management, and more. Our Service Department also includes our Prep Department, where new inventory and trade-in vehicles are inspected, cleaned, and prepared for our customers. Combined, our Service Team has an average tenure of seven and a half years!

Our Collision Center has 14 employees. With an average tenure of eight years, our Collision Team consists of our Body Shop Technicians, Painters, Administrator, Estimator, Detailer, and  Management Team. The Berger Collision Center works with any insurance and any make or model of vehicle. That’s right! While we are partial to Chevrolet vehicles, if your non-Chevy vehicle needs a repair, Berger is here for you.

The largest department at Berger Chevrolet is our Parts Department, with 106 team members and an average tenure of around seven years. With over 133,000 GM parts in our inventory, two warehouses, and daily deliveries made all over West Michigan and beyond, our Parts Team operates at a high capacity each day. This crew includes our Parts Receiving and Returns Teams, 50 Delivery Drivers, Dispatchers, and many other positions within our Warehouse, Wholesale, Retail, and Management Teams. 

Finally, we have our Administrative Department, including the Office, HR, Marketing, and IT Teams. Our Admin Team has 23 employees with an average tenure of eleven years, which includes our two highest tenured employees. Our GM has been employed at Berger Chevy for 42 years, and our Accounts Receivable Manager for 35 years. 

The Berger Team has an impressive tenure track record with 13 employees who have worked at Berger for over 25 years.
