TONY KITCHIN EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

November 29th, 2024 by

Join us in congratulating our December Employee Spotlight, Tony Kitchin!

Tony, one of our new vehicle sales consultants, is coming up on five years at Berger Chevrolet but his expertise in automotive sales spans over a decade. Tony was drawn to Berger Chevy because the dealership was the perfect culmination of his three career passions: sales, cars, and company values that align with his own. Finding the perfect trifecta at Berger Chevrolet made joining the Berger sales team a no-brainer for Tony.

While most know him as Tony, he’s also often referred to as TK or the EV King! The EV King nickname was given to him almost ten years ago when Chevrolet introduced the Chevy Bolt EV and Tony was one of the first sales consultants to take an interest in not only selling them at the dealership but also owning one himself. While Tony continues to be an EV expert and a current owner of a Chevy Equinox EV, he’s also a proud owner of a Chevy Silverado and enjoys selling and driving the entire lineup of Chevrolet vehicles.

When asked what a typical day looks like for him as a new vehicle sales consultant at Berger, Tony jokingly responded, “A good magician never reveals his secrets!” Being an avid puzzler and problem-solver, Tony relates his day-to-day job to putting a puzzle together. Each day he’s organizing multiple situations with multiple solutions and deciding which piece will fit best with each customer. In fact, the challenge of it all is Tony’s favorite part of the job! No two customers are the same, so no two conclusions are the same either. That’s what makes the reward of finding someone the perfect vehicle for their situation all the more sweet.

In addition to his dedication to helping customers through the buying process, Tony wants customers to know that that’s not where the service stops at Berger Chevrolet! At Berger, we strive to make the buying experience and the owning experience exceptional. Just because you’ve purchased your vehicle and driven off the lot, doesn’t mean Tony’s job stops there. He wants to make sure you enjoy owning your vehicle as much as you enjoyed purchasing it. By keeping in touch with customers, asking for feedback, and utilizing our certified service department, Tony and the Berger team are able to do just that. That’s why it’s always better at Berger!

Berger Chevrolet hitting the huge milestone of reaching 100 years of business in 2025 is just around the corner. When asked what being a part of this milestone means, Tony shared that it is very humbling to know that the Berger family had been building this dealership brick-by-brick 60 years before he was even born! Before Tony could even think about wanting to sell vehicles, the Berger family was building a legacy that would last for the next 100 years and beyond. Tony feels honored to be just a “small piece in that history” and he’s excited to celebrate in 2025!

When asked if there’s anyone within his department that he’d like to give a shout out to, there was not a moment of hesitation before he said his fellow sales consultant, Jason George. Tony credits Jason with having the “best attitude in the world.” He is the person Tony goes to when he needs his daily dose of positivity. Tony also wanted to give a shoutout to three people in other departments that have so much on their plates but are always willing to help him out when he asks. Those three people are Alex Beals in the retail parts department, Patty VanderMolen in the service department, and Curtis Davis in shipping for our parts department.

Known for his own positive and outgoing attitude, Tony is often showcased in our social media photos and videos. Looking back on all the content he’s excitedly been a part of, he says his favorite video has to be when he and Jason were in what he titled, “Snowmageddon.” The reel featured a dramatized preparation of what it’s like to brace the cold and brush the snow off the vehicles on the lot during the winter. You can check out the hilarious video here!

Not only does Tony enjoy being a part of our Marketing team’s content, he also enjoys attending the Berger employee events! Some of his favorite events have been a sales team outing at the Fowling Warehouse and an employee outing at Berlin Raceway. These events are some of his favorites because they’ve given him the opportunity to try new things and enjoy time with his colleagues.

When not at work, Tony enjoys spending his time being a husband and a dad, and you can often find him keeping busy supporting his kids at their various sporting and school events. As mentioned before, Tony loves a good puzzle so you can also find him outside the dealership working on a puzzle, nerding out about music theory, or playing chess. Another fun fact about Tony is that he’s very competitive so if anyone is up for a game of chess, he would love a new opponent!

Once again, congratulations to our December 2024 Employee Spotlight, Tony Kitchin! Thank you for all you do to make it always better at Berger.
