VERONICA MURPHY EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Congrats are in order for our April Employee Spotlight, Veronica Murphy!

Before beginning her journey at Berger Chevrolet, Veronica worked at a service center for 18-wheelers. She was referred by a former Berger employee / friend to check out our collision center and the rest is history! 

Veronica works in our Collision Center as a Body Shop Estimator. The Collision Team meets for a daily production meeting 30 minutes before we open to our customers every day to review their work and create a plan to better serve our customers. As an Estimator, Veronica streamlines the repair process for our customers. She is responsible for writing estimates for customer walk-ins, tow-ins, and sometimes even her fellow Berger employees! She meets with our technicians to go over any hidden damage to the vehicle, order parts, and bill insurance companies. 

Being a Body Shop Estimator is rewarding for Veronica. A customer’s vehicle is often one of their largest investments. So, when they’ve been in an accident, tensions can be high, and customers come to the Collision Center confused, distressed, or upset. Veronica says there is “satisfaction from helping our customers navigate through the repair process, easing their stress and worries”. She aims to turn a negative experience into a positive one. 

Veronica’s advice to anyone interested in working at a body shop is that it’s important to be aware that emotions or reactions can be heightened for the customer as no one wants or plans to be in an accident. She focuses on helping the customer through the repair process no matter the situation. “Let the bad stuff roll off your shoulders and just keep going. You can’t fix a problem by ruminating on it”.

When asked why she enjoyed working at Berger, Veronica said, “Always the people”. She enjoys getting to know and interact with other employees. She also went on to say, “Everyone has always been kind and eager to help”. She enjoys attending our employee outings at Berlin Raceway with her son. 

Veronica wanted to give a shout-out to Jodi, our Collision Center Administrator. “She’s the glue that holds everything together”. She also wanted to give Corey, one of our Body Shop Painters, a shout-out! She went on to say, “Corey is always in such a positive mood and brings that energy to everyone he interacts with”. 

When asked if she wanted to give anyone in another department a shout-out, she said she couldn’t name just one. “The service team is fun to work with. Chelsea in Parts is on her game all the time and can recall information at the drop of a hat. Marty is instrumental any time I’m struggling with parts. Beth in Sales has always been really cool and easygoing”. Beth also sold Veronica her last two vehicles. 

Speaking of vehicles, as a true Chevy gal, Veronica drives a Chevy Blazer 2LT, “because it’s pretty😍” in the show-stopping gunmetal exterior color and a Chevy Traverse 1LT in Black Cherry Metallic. 

When she’s not at work, Veronica stays busy. She has four children and three dogs, a Bernese Mountain Dog, Golden Retriever, and a Rat Terrier Mini, who is 15 years old! She enjoys working out in the mornings, baking, hiking, playing baseball with her kids, and finding some quiet time to curl up with a book. On Sundays, she enjoys trying out a new recipe in the kitchen. She recently made some tasty braised short ribs. 

A few fun facts about Veronica are that moved to Michigan from Texas in 2015 and loves it here! In a weird coincidence, all five of her closest friends have names that start with the letter “K”. She attended school for a degree in Political Science, and her dad has been a Chevy mechanic for nearly 50 years! He currently drives a 1989 Chevy 1500 pickup with over 320,000 miles on it (talk about a fun fact😏)!
